About Us
Our story...
My name is Ashley Wakefield, my husband and I are Wakefield Designs. We want to help you turn your vision of your home into reality!
I started my own clothing boutique in 2007 and after expanding a few years later I asked my somewhat handy husband to build me new fixtures. Well needless to say as he did more projects for me and began upgrading here and there around our house, he found a love for woodworking and renovation.
After having our first boy back in 2013 we soon realized we needed more space and began casually looking for a new home.
When I came across a very interesting fixer upper I remember the exact moment showing my husband saying "What about this one?" This one was fresh out of the late 80's but had a complete mid-modern design that appealed to our aesthetic. The huge bank of windows across the back of the house drew me in while the large shop in the basement caught his interest! Plus the area was a rare find, close to town but large mature lots that gave us plenty of nature.
So after an absolutely awful, that's a story for another day, buying experience we finally got the keys in late April 2017 just before our son's 4th birthday.
It has been and at the time of this writing still is a labor of love. I spent the first summer painting all of the blue exterior trim and guttering black, scraping the painted blue popcorn ceilings (I HATE popcorn!) along with countless other back breaking projects we've taken on! And of course if it could go wrong believe me, it has!
But despite it all our love for renovation and design has only grown. So as to not waste my husband's immense talents at his full time retail job we decided to take a leap!
We have lots of aspirations and this is surely to be just the beginning. We can't wait to help others with a vision, or not, redesign there spaces into one that they'll love. To walk into their home and look around and just feel at ease, at peace. To have a beautiful space that they can love!
